Behind the Screens: Get to Know Dylan a Junior IT Support Technician
Say hello to Dylan, one of our Junior IT Support Technicians at Orbits. Despite Dylan has been here just shy of a year, he’s already made a great impression on our clients and will always work hard to ensure issues are fixed and there are smiles on faces! Get to know him throughout his time here to far, here…
What do you enjoy most about your work?
“I enjoy being able to talk to our clients on the daily. It’s nice working alongside our clients to make sure that their issues are resolved and all is working as they expect it to.”
What is something your proud of achieving here at Orbits?
“While on my apprenticeship, I am proud of my progress, having moved to the main call queue. This has helped me build up my confidence as I speak to more of our clients day in and day out, being able to solve their issues.
“Alongside my apprenticeship, I also completed a course on mental health awareness. It was really rewarding, and now I know how I can be there for my colleagues as I understand mental health more.”
How has your role evolved since starting here?
“When I first started my apprenticeship, it was a lot of processing new starters, and now I work on more complex jobs. These could be to do with printers or networks, for example.”
What does a typical workday look like to you?
“No work day is the same; one minute I could be resolving lots of printer issues, and then all of a sudden, I could be making a signature change. The one task that always remains the same is the aim to make sure the client is happy when I resolve any queries or issues.”
Comments from Dylan’s manager, Daniel Vaughan…
“Dylan is one of our latest apprentices on the helpdesk having joined us within the last few year. He is always friendly and approachable whether to colleagues or clients over the phone and is keen to dive into whatever scenario or issue he is faced with. It’s great to see how much. Dylan has developed over a very short period of time and I’m looking forward to seeing how he develops his newly acquired skills.”
Now for the Fun Stuff!
Work hard, play hard — we’ve seen Dylan in action, supporting our clients, now let’s peek behind the screen and uncover some of the fun stuff!
If you weren’t working at Orbits, what would you be doing?
“I think I would be working as a Barista in a in a coffee shop making making plenty of different types of tea and coffee.”
If your job had a theme song, what would it be?
“It’d depend on the day, but on a good day, I would say High Hopes by Panic! at the Disco.”
If your job had a mascot, what would it be?
“I think it’d look like a typewriter. We do some much typing every day and you can always hear people tapping away on their keyboards.”
