Behind the Screens: Get to Know Rachel Sales and Client Support
What a long was Rachel has come! Firstly joining the Orbits team back in 2019 as a Admin and Finance Assistant, then taking a brief break to grow her family, before joining us again in February 2025. Rachel has been here ever since embracing her different role of Client Support and Sales Admin. No day looks the same for Rachel so, to learn more about her work day to day we asked her a few questions…
What do you enjoy most about working at Orbits IT?
One of the things I enjoy most is helping everything run smoothly behind the scenes. I also really like the variety that comes with my role. No two days are quite the same, and I could be supporting our clients, working on reports, preparing proposals, or helping the sales team with administrative tasks. Having that mix of responsibilities keeps things interesting and means there’s always something new to focus on.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I’m a mum of young children, so life outside of work is pretty busy! Most of my free time is spent with them, and we’re usually out and about making the most of family days together. Whether it’s a trip to the beach, a visit to the park, a soft play adventure or simply going for a walk, we enjoy spending as much time outdoors as possible and making memories together.
How has your role evolved since starting here?
I first joined Orbits in 2019 as an Accounts Assistant before taking some time out with my children. Since returning, I’ve moved into Sales & Client Support, which has been an exciting new challenge. The role has helped me develop a much broader understanding of our clients, the products and services we provide, and the internal processes that help keep everything running efficiently. It’s been really rewarding to learn a different area of the business and continue building my knowledge.
How would you describe the team culture?
We have a lovely team culture here at Orbits. Everyone is friendly, supportive and always willing to help each other when needed. We also have the perfect balance of professionalism and fun, which makes Orbits a great place to work.
What does a typical workday look like for you?
There’s always something different going on, so no day is ever exactly the same. A typical day might involve preparing quotes, communicating with suppliers, producing reports, responding to client requests and providing administrative support to the sales team. It’s a varied role that keeps me busy and allows me to work closely with both colleagues and clients throughout the day.
We heard from Rachel’s manager, Dean…
Rachel has been a huge part of the Orbits IT journey. Having first joined the business in 2016 as a part-time Accounts Administrator, Rachel spent several years helping to support the company before taking some time away to start a family. In 2025, she re-joined the team in a Sales and Customer Support role, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of both Orbits IT and our customers.
Her previous time with the business gave her a fantastic foundation, allowing her to quickly step into a role supporting our sales activities, customer relationships, and account management. Rachel plays a key role behind the scenes, working on proposals, assisting the leadership team with customer reporting, and liaising with our key suppliers to help ensure we continue delivering excellent service to our clients.
Rachel’s dedication, attention to detail, and willingness to help make her an invaluable member of the team. Quite simply, we’d be lost without her; if only we could clone her!
Now for the Fun Stuff!
Work hard, play hard — we’ve seen Rachel in action on the supporting our clients, now let’s peek behind the screen and uncover some of the fun stuff!
If you weren’t working in IT, what would you be doing?
“I think I would probably be doing something working with children, as having three of my own has definitely given me plenty of experience!”
Do you prefer light mode or dark mode?
I much prefer light mode.
If you were stuck on a desert island with one device, what is it and how long before it breaks?
“My Phone! It has everything needed on there although I’m not sure the battery would last long enough to get me off the island!”
