The Company

For over 25 years, Cambrian Credit Union has been helping people across North Wales by providing financial services, offering a genuine alternative to high-cost credit.

In 2011, five local credit unions joined forces to become one stronger organisation. We knew that by working together, we could reach more people and give better support to the communities we serve.

Today, we look after more than 9,500 members. Since closing our physical branches, we now work entirely online, providing the same personal service—just without the need to step through our doors.

The Problem

Prior to engaging with Orbits, we relied on another IT provider for support. While they were initially responsive, as issues became more frequent and urgent, the level of support required was no longer consistently available.

Challenges arose when we transitioned to the Progress system, which occasionally caused interruptions that impacted daily operations. Our team used the terminal service in different ways depending on roles, and it became clear that our previous provider was struggling to support us. As processes grew more complex, we needed a level of support that better matched our requirements.

It was challenging to find IT providers willing to quote for a small organisation, which was discouraging. We began reaching out to other credit unions for recommendations, and Orbits IT consistently came highly recommended.
