Orbits IT 12-Hour Darts Marathon for Macmillan Cancer Support | England vs Wales

On Friday 29th August, Orbits IT hosted a 12-hour Darts Marathon in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. Two teams, Wales and the Midlands, went head-to-head in a race to hit 100,000 points, or score as much as possible within the 12-hour window. It was a full day of darts, energy, laughter, and competition, all for a brilliant cause.

Highlights

Now that the Orbits IT Darts Marathon is wrapped up, we can officially say: what an incredible day.

Wales reached the 100,000-point finish line at around 2:30pm on Friday, sealing the win in what turned out to be a nail-biting finish. The Midlands were just over 5,000 points behind, which meant it was a tight race all the way through and genuinely anyone’s game until the very end. The atmosphere was electric, and the competitive spirit kept everyone going right up to the final darts.

There were standout performances across both teams. Harrison, now proudly known as the “Outer Rim King”, earned his nickname after hitting an unprecedented amount of 25s throughout the day. He followed it up with the highest score for the Midlands, racking up a huge 8,120 points in one of his 30-minute sessions. That score was only two points shy of the top individual score of the day, which went to James “Dunn Deal” from the Wales office, who finished with 8,122 points. It doesn’t get much closer than that.

The standard of play across the board was far higher than anyone expected. 3-dart averages were edging close to 40 regularly, with some seriously impressive consistency throughout the day. The highest recorded score in a single visit came from Morgan, affectionately crowned “The King”, who landed an incredible 140 with just three darts. A real moment of glory.

Wales made their intentions clear from the start. At one point they were literally sprinting back and forth between the board and the throw line, pushing themselves to keep the scores ticking over. The energy, determination, and team spirit were something to behold. They were here to win, and they absolutely delivered.

Thank You!

But the day wasn’t just about the darts. It was about community, fun, and raising money for a brilliant cause. And in that, we completely exceeded expectations. We originally set out to raise £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support. By the end of the event, we’d more than doubled it, with a final total of £1,144.27. That’s a number we’re incredibly proud of.

So to everyone who donated, took part, threw a dart, ran back and forth all day, tuned into the livestream, or just sent us a message of support — thank you. You helped make the day unforgettable.

And who knows, maybe this isn’t the end. With the Midlands now eyeing revenge, we might just have to bring it back next year…
