Behind the Screens: Get to Know Jakub from Project Support

Say hello to Jakub, who’s been part of the Orbits team for nearly three years now, and it’s been quite the journey. It all kicked off with some college work experience, followed by a bit of part-time work. After finishing college, he came on board properly as a 1st line support apprentice. These days, he works in Project Support, helping to plan and roll out projects alongside the team and our clients. It’s a role that keeps things exciting and different every day. Let’s get to know him a little more…

What do you enjoy most about working at Orbits IT?

“What I enjoy most about my job is the constant problem solving. There’s always something new to work out or put right, and I genuinely find that part of the job really satisfying. It keeps me thinking and stops things from feeling routine. I also like that each day brings something different. I never quite know what’s coming, which makes the work feel fresh and keeps me on my toes.”

What does a typical work day look like to you?

“What I enjoy most about my workdays at Orbits is the element of surprise. No two days are ever quite the same. There’s always something new going on, with all sorts of different IT issues coming up. I really enjoy getting stuck into those problems and helping clients find a solution so they can carry on with their day.”

How would you describe the team culture?

“It’s like being part of a big family. From the very first day, I was welcomed with open arms, and that feeling hasn’t changed. There’s always someone around to offer help or just have a chat, and I know I can rely on my colleagues no matter what. That kind of support makes a real difference, both in how we work and how we feel day to day.”

What do you like to do outside of work?

“Outside of work, I’m usually with friends, gaming, or getting stuck into something football-related. I’m an Aston Villa fan, so if there’s a match on, I’m watching it. And if there isn’t, I’m probably out having a kickabout instead.”

What’s something you’re proud of achieving within your time at Orbits?

“I’m really proud of passing my apprenticeship with a Distinction, as well as earning my CompTIA A+ certification. Both took a lot of hard work and focus, so it felt great to see that pay off.”

Comments from Jakubs manager, Morgan King…

“Jakub has become a key part of our Project Support team, bringing energy and a real problem solving mindset to every project. He’s always ready to adapt, collaborate, and find the best solution for clients, which makes him a huge asset to the Orbits team.”

Now for the Fun Stuff!

Work hard, play hard — we’ve seen Jakub in action, supporting our clients, now let’s peek behind the screen and uncover some of the fun stuff!

If you weren’t working in IT, what would you be doing?

“To be honest, all I ever wanted to do was IT, but in another life I would see myself somewhere in Aviation, whether this be a commercial Pilot or Military, it seems really cool!”

Do you prefer light mode or dark mode?

“Definitely Dark mode, I don’t like getting absolutely blinded every time I wake up in the morning.”

If your job had a theme song, what would it be?

“Mission: Impossible Theme. I think it’s self-explanatory, but it’s like taking on a mission each time I work on a ticket or project.”

You’re stuck on a desert island with one device — what is it, and how long before it breaks?

“I would probably take a Gaming Computer with Solar Power so I can enjoy my time there until I HOPEFULLY get saved!”
