Behind the Screens: Get to Know Jordan from Second Line Support

Say hello to Jordan, our resident Sage Guru and member of our Second Line Support team. Since joining us in May 2022 as a Second Line Support technician, Jordan has become a fundamental and proactive member of the team, assisting both clients and the rest of the team every day. Now, let’s get to know him a little better…

What do you enjoy most about working at Orbits IT?

I enjoy troubleshooting complex issues for our clients. Many of these can be due to some third parties, like Sage, M365 or others. It is very pleasing to see my persistent hard work pay off and see that it makes someone’s day much easier.

What does a typical work day look like to you?

Daily, I could work on any of your typical day-to-day IT issues, such as network or printing issues. But this could also include large-scale deployments of applications, patching and meeting with clients to develop and improve solutions that fit their specific needs.

How would you describe the team culture?

In a nutshell, the culture at Orbits is helpful, friendly and unified. Everyone always has something useful to bring to the table and is happy to help others within the team to achieve a collective goal.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, first and foremost, I’m a Dad. Outside of that, when I have the time, I love studying science and nature. I even get asked by my colleagues about questions relating to space and science since they know I studied at Uni. I also write music for my band and love gardening.

What is the most common type of issue you deal with day to day?

The most common type of issue I deal with daily is troubleshooting third-party applications, more specifically, Sage Accounts. Some days, I could be working on Sage from dusk till dawn, and I’m even dubbed Sage Guru by the team.

Comments from Jordans manager, James Dunn…

“Jordan has consistently proven to be a highly dependable and integral member of the second-line support team. Over the past three years, we have worked closely together, and our collaboration has always been seamless and productive. Jordan’s deep technical knowledge, combined with his calm and methodical approach, makes him a key point of contact for the team when technical guidance or support is needed.

Now for the Fun Stuff!

Work hard, play hard — we’ve seen Jordan in action on the supporting our clients, now let’s peek behind the screen and uncover some of the fun stuff!

Job Postman

If you weren’t working in IT, what would you be doing?

“I’d be a postman, I enjoy a good walk and walk everywhere I can at the moment already, and it’d be cool to do it as a job.”

Do you prefer light mode or dark mode?

“I personally prefer Light Mode; I can see the screen better and will simply adjust my brightness if I need to.”

If IT support had a mascot, what would it look like?

“Since we have so many printer issues in the IT industry, I’d imagine it would look like a printer, maybe with some paper stuck in it.”

Printer Mascot

You’re stuck on a desert island with one device — what is it, and how long before it breaks?

“I’d take a phone with a full signal. Hopefully, it would last longer than the time it would take to be rescued.”
