Cybersecurity
The IT landscape is constantly changing; threats are everywhere. Smaller organisations are at just as much risk as larger companies. As your IT provider we ensure you, your data and systems remain safe and secure, whilst assisting clients to achieve the Cyber Essentials standard.
Cybersecurity tools are important, but they only catch what they’re built to spot. People are a different story. Most cyber attacks start with someone being tricked into clicking a link, opening a fake invoice or giving information away to the wrong person. No software can fully predict the changes in human behaviour. Training gives your staff the confidence to pause, question something out of the ordinary and report it before any damage is done. It turns your team from a weak point into a safety net. Even a little awareness goes a long way, especially when attacks are always evolving.
Cyber Essentials
Cyber Essentials is a UK government-backed certification designed to help organisations protect themselves against the most common cyber attacks. It focuses on five core security controls, such as access control, secure configuration and malware protection, which are responsible for the majority of basic breaches.
By meeting these standards and keeping them in place after certification, you can significantly reduce the risk of data breaches, ransomware and other everyday cyber threats, while also demonstrating to customers and partners that you take security seriously.
A Cyber Essentials certification is valid for 12 months. Both Cyber Essentials Basic and Cyber Essentials Plus must be renewed annually to remain compliant. If you’re looking to go further, Cyber Essentials Basic must be achieved first, as it’s a prerequisite for progressing to Cyber Essentials Plus (must be completed within the following 3 months). Keeping the certification up to date helps ensure your security controls stay effective as threats and business environments change.
Can Cyber Essentials help us win or retain contracts with larger organisations or the public sector?
Yes! Cyber Essentials is widely recognised and often expected by larger organisations and the public sector. It shows you take cyber security seriously, removes a common barrier during procurement, and can speed up tenders by reducing security questionnaires. For existing customers, it also provides reassurance that core security controls are in place and maintained.
Most changes relate to ageing or unsupported tech. This may include upgrading devices that don’t support modern operating systems like Windows 11, replacing mobiles that can no longer receive Android or iOS updates, and retiring end‑of‑life networking equipment. These can’t meet Cyber Essentials requirements because they no longer receive security patches. Aside from dealing with end‑of‑life kit, most organisations won’t need significant changes to their existing security policies, especially where Cyber Essentials‑level controls are already part of day‑to‑day IT support.
Hardware
Yes, remote and hybrid working is something we deal with all the time. We usually recommend lightweight laptops with strong battery life so people can move easily between home and the office. Pairing those with docking stations and a home office setup makes it easy to plug in and get straight to work, wherever you happen to be working for the day.
We don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. The right device really depends on how your team works day to day. For most office-based roles, a dependable mid-range laptop or desktop will do the job comfortably. If your work involves things like design, engineering, or data-heavy analysis, we’d recommend higher-spec machines with faster processors and more memory to keep everything running smoothly.
Mostly comes down to how much flexibility you need. Laptops are great if you work across different locations or need to stay mobile during the day. Desktops tend to suit fixed desks better, especially where performance and value for money matter more than portability. We look at how and where each person works, then recommend the option that makes the most sense for them.
Yes, we can recommend and supply a full range of accessories to complete your setup. This includes monitors, docking stations, keyboards, mice, and other peripherals to ensure a comfortable and productive working environment.
